About Us

Our mission statement is to make beautiful, intelligent, and internationally respectable horses; that breeding choices are made responsibly, adhereing to our strict breeding practices; and that every horse is produced with the ability and determination to perform and peform well.

Do not let our mission statement scare you, we have high ethical standards when it comes to breeding. Since we cannot control the world, we control the small world of SOSF.

We look at each horse at an individual level. We compare the good with the what needs improvement and make a breeding decision based on those two aspects. We pick stallions that will compliment our mares to get the end product... a Sport Horse that will win classes. We also will not breed horses that have attitdues that are undesriable, confirmation that is less than desired, nor do we do "Fad-breeding". Our decisions are also not based on lines, but they are taken into consideration. We breed to improve the breed and preserve those breeds that need to be preserved. We strive to produce horses that are not your "everyday" show horse.

We also take the same guidelines and apply them to picking careers for our horses. We will not push horses into disciplines that they do not enjoy. Happy horses are happy when they enjoy their work. This is the motto Amanda maintains when selecting horses for careers.

Our Horses

All of our horses get turn out time and are allowed to be horses. We also use our horses for what they were bred for, work. The two girls above are our current broodmares, though one is also going to starti competeing again this May. My Belgian Quarter horse gelding is my event horse, our RID stallion will be an event horse also once he gets old enough. The IDSH/Friesian cross will be a show horse when he/she reaches a mature age.

All career decisions are based on the individual horse. Some of our horses will not make good eventers but instead make wonderful open jumpers or dressage horses. We try hard to encourage diversity but we will not compete horses in a discipline that they do not like. However every horse will have some dressage training, how much depends on the horse.

Of course, at SOSF we try to keep everyone invloved. As you see here, Nick, is helping teach himself how to lunge. Though we don't recommend trying this techinque at home...

More pictures to come....

Who We Are

Amanda is our resident trainer, breeding consultant, and all around barn goddess. She is also a Certified Veterinary Technician that has both large and small animal experience.  She is available for starting your young horse, and even catch riding at some local shows. She has ridden with Susan Wainwright, Susanne Benne, and is currently working with Pat Deasy in Alachua, FL. She has ridden under Philip Dutton, Ralph hill, and Cinday Rawson in clinics. She is far from the CCI**** riders she admires but if you have a green horse that you would like miles on before you show him, she's more than happy to help.

Just throw her an email for training prices. Amanda

Kevin is the untypical horse husband and will be on the show scene soon enough. He also has his hand in training, making sure that our horses are very used to being poked and harassed on a daily basis.

We also have 2 lab mixes, 5 rescued cats, and one goat. Our farm is a safe haven for small animals as well as large ones.
